Amber hopes forget her past

AMBER PORTWOOD HOPES TEEN MOM: OG FANS AREN’T HUNG UP ON “THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST”

Amber Portwood is talking about how hard her choices have been in order to get sober. But she hopes Teen Mom: OG fans will let the past stay in the past as she moves forward.
Amber opens up about returning to television. “I didn’t want people to have a bad taste in their mouth of things that happened in the past. I thought, ‘this is my chance, don’t blow it!'”
“The only thing I could see happening to me if I [hadn’t gone] to prison is I would have died,” she admits of choosing to go to jail and be away from her young daughter, Leah, for the sake of getting off drugs and being healthy. “I would have overdosed,” Amber admits. “When you’re an addict you know what your bottom is.”

“Obviously I’ve had some speed bumps,” says Amber of getting sober in jail. “But it’s never too late to try to get your life back and do something positive.”
“The whole time I was in there I worked my ass off,” she says of getting her GED in jail and now working on getting into college. “There were hundreds of hours of drug addiction classes. I did extra classes, parenting and anger management and even started teaching. I put myself in there for a reason so I didn’t want to make it a waste.”
Amber also reveals some details about her fiance, Matt Baier, 43, and their wedding plans.
“He’s amazing, funny, caring, and loving,” says Amber of Matt. She adds of planning a long engagement, “We want to be engaged for at least a year before we really jump into anything. We want everything in place.”
